Alex Johnson was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. He was considered as one of the top perimeter players to come out of Canada before he was recruited to Cal State Bakersfield. He prepped at Vaughan Road Academy in Toronto where he averaged 18.8 points, 5.6 rebounds and 6.8 assists per game as a senior.
